My maytag cetennial only hums when the start button is pushed.Thermal switch tests with continuity. If I tape the door switch down and manually turn the drum while pushing the start button..It turns although slowly. Is my drive motor failed or could it be something else.

It sounds like the start winding in your dryer motor has failed. Motor replacement is the only recourse here.

I was planning to pull the drum for access today. What about a stuck centrifugal switch making the start winding appear bad?

That can also be the issue, but most of the time you can’t just get the centrifugal switch, so you have to get the whole motor
