when I put this dw into a cycle, I can hear water going in then nothing. I also opened the door and I didn't think that enough water was in there, so I put some more in until the float was up.

shut the door and resumed the cycle and this time it sounded like the wash motor was making some noise, but then stopped again. the float does click when I pull up on it, so I determined that

it was working. then I took a resistance check of both the wash motor that read 20 ohms, and the valve that read 1400 ohms. just before the wash motor stopped making the noise, it made a click sound. my question is, Do I have a valve problem if I am not filling the two gallons as per specs and a motor issue? Also, how much water goes in. does it go in until float is lifted or to the level of the filter?

The float is only for safety; the water fill is timed. You're looking at a bad wash motor.

do you think that the motor has anything jammed in it, or the bearings are shot?

You could check, but you probably need a new motor.

Also, by pouring in the extra water, some water was on the floor and it looked as if it were coming out under the float switch. I pulled the float and it still clicks, so I wanted to know if anyone thinks that I should put a new one in? After I reconnected the valve, there were no leaks.
