GE Washer WHRE5550K2WW not spinning or agitating

This washer will progress through the entire cycle without spinning or agitating.

First step was to try and reset the washer by the following procedure:

1. Unplug for 1 Minute.

2. Plug back in.

3. Open and close the lid 6 times within the first 30 seconds.

Second step was to remove the top, front cover and bypass the lid switch.  Lid switch tested fine, but shorted the wires together so I can work on it with the lid gone.  When starting a cycle, the machine fills with water, and I can hear the pump moving water back and forth, but the machine does not agitate.  From here, I can see that the drive belt is still in good shape and attached, the tub will spin freely when I push it with my hand.  The small axle coming from the motor does not attempt to move at all.

There is a small amount of water at the bottom and I can tell a small amount of water has run down along the large shaft that comes from the bottom of the tub.

Looking at the following link, it identifies where a red or green LED may be based on the age of the motor; mine does not have any flap for a red LED, and while the housing looks very similar to the photo for the green light LED, I cannot see the LED blink.

I followed the instructions for testing the fuse as well, by checking for continuity between neutral and the red/white wire, and it tested good.

This would indicate that the motor is dead; is there anything else I should check?

@Chaosmos

Find the service manual on the machine. It may be under the machine taped on the wall somewhere. Follow the instructions and put the machine in the field service mode. Go to the spin mode, knob position 9. If the motor runs it's OK. If not back probe C2 at the motor pin 5 to pin 3 that would be the red black wire to the white red wire. You should have 120 VAC. Now with the lid closed go to C2 at the motor and probe pin 6 to 3 that would be the orange wire to the white red wire. You should have 120 VAC.

Next go to C4 at the motor and with meter set on DC probe pins 5 to 3 that would be the purple wire to the Dark Blue wire. You should have 12 VDC. (DC voltage) If not bad main control. Next probe C4 pins 5 to 4 that would be purple to black. You should have 12 volts. If not bad main control.

Good luck with that.

Mode 9 (spin) - still no spin.

120V Check on C2 pins 3 and 5: good.

120V check on C2 pins 3 and 6:  good.

12V check on C4 pins 3 and 5: less than 1V.

12C check on C4 pins 4 and 5: less than 1V.

Looks like a bad main board.
