Frigidaire fridge (Model:FRT22RGCW3) won't start unless temp adjusted

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Frigidaire Fridge won't start by itself. But when I change the temp setting to cooler setting then the compressor start working.

Symptoms of the issue: the freezer section wasn't cooling enough. The ice cream was soft in the freezer part.

On temp reading it was around 20 F.

There is no ice build up on the coils.

I appreciate any advice on where to look and what to check.

Thanks

Next time just tap on the thermostat. If it starts it is more than likely an intermittent thermostat. The part shows nla on sears parts direct. May have to search around to find a replacement.

Thanks again Vance. :)

I am back again. The temp control thermostat is very expensive. it's about $250.

Can I use other brand like GE or Kenmore temp control thermostat on this Frigidaire?

Thanks

Almost any generic refrigerator thermostat would work. Will have to make it fit and probably change knob.

Thank you so much Vance!

Let me explain the fridge problem again. When the temp setting is on 4 (more than middle), the fridge section is cooler than normal (around 36 F) and freezer section is warmer than normal (around 10-15 F). Not mentioning I have used duck tape to kind of reduce the air flow into fridge section.

Could it be damper problem?

or could it be that Compressor Run Capacitor  isn't  working properly?

Thanks for your advice in advance!

Can you get the freezer down to 0 degrees?

If you can, then you can start looking into what's wrong in the refrigerator section.

Also, are you certain your thermometer is actually accurate?

Thank y'all for your inputs.

Especial thanks to Terry.

Somehow it's working well again. I messed with defrost termo a bit. Brought the temp in freezer to 0. Fixed the fridge temp with duck tape. :)  Fridge was getting very cold in spite of damper being closed. Will be looking into the damper later. I glad now it's working.
