Samsung OTR microwave model ME21H706MQS

Christmas Day microwave beeped a few times and displayed "SE" error code and microwave unusable. Unplugged and plugged back in and alarm comes right back. Microwave is barely 2 years old!

I did refer to Youtube but noticed all of the fixes there deal with the keypad/control panel are to the right not in the bottom portion of the door like mine.

SE is stuck key error code. Try the fixes on youtube first, if they don't work probably need to replaced key board and/ main module. Sometimes you can get parts separate, sometimes it all one piece.

And since you can buy that model on sale For $159 it’s likely cheaper and easier to replace it. Yep for $159 you get about 2-5 years.

Vance R - Youtube only refers to cleaning the ribbon cable on the side control. My question referencing that is where is the ribbon cable on my model where the control panel is in the door?

16345Ed - The $159 price tag for the same model is a plus if the repair is not doable.

Thanks

Ribbon cables usually connects key board to the control module. From the exploded view the key board is in the door and the control module is on right side of cabinet.  Looks like the key board ribbon cable plugs into a wire harness and is that is routed to the control board. You would probably have to separate the door to gain access to the ribbon cable and plug. Door assembly is NO Longer Available, switch membrane is $86 on Parts Select.

How do I remove the back portion of the door to get to the keypad? Tried to attach a couple pictures but don't seem to have the option?

Never have tried it on this model, but generally you use a thin putty knife to remove the ferrite choke, item 1-5. Got the image from partselect.  It just snaps into place and breaks easily. Some times the outer cover snaps over the metal frame, other times there are screw holding it in place. Being careful and lots of patience.

Ok I removed the ferrite choke, item 1-5 - then I removed approx 7 screws that look like they hold 1-6 and 1-4 in from inside. Unless going from the front part is the way to access the keypad? Looks like there are stainless tabs that hold the front panel on to the door and of course there are 2 screws that hold the handle on?

Have to go by what you are posting. Only other way is if the outer panel is snapped over the door frame. If that does look possible i would star with just the 2 door screws and see if panel comes off.

You understood exactly what I was trying to say. That being said I will remove the 2 door handle screws and release the approximately 15 tabs that are bent over and try to remove the front panel. Coming from the back just feels like I'm going to break the glass.

Ok here is what I found - as I started cautiously disassembling the microwave door I finally gained access to the circuit card assembly (CCA) where the ribbon cable attaches. I removed the ribbon cable and cleaned (noticed ribbon cable kinked) and reinstalled and put together and plugged in. I was able to enter the time which I wasn't able to in the prior trys. Bad news after about a minute the microwave went back to the original SE error. What next?  How much is the little CCA? not sure if worth it

Not sure, you'll have to check a few web sites for best price, Amazon and Ebay.

Not sure what part numbers etc...? Where can I find an illustrated parts list?

Posted

Most of the major part web site have part diagram - partselect, appliance part pros, repair clinic, sears parts direct.

New unit still only $159. Lol
