AT19M9A, how to access evaporator coil

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have an Admiral AT19M9A refrigerator. I suspect my evaporator fan motor, radiant heater, or defrost thermostat is at fault.

How do I get to these parts ? There are no exposed screws securing the panels in the freezer compartment.

I believe evaporator is under bottom tray of freezer floor in this one. Carefully pry bottom tray up and out.

I'm pretty sure @16345Ed is correct but you have to do much more to get the freezer floor panel out.

Doors will have to removed so you can remove the middle hinge and the mullion divider strip with the heater attached to it.

Once that has been done you can then pry the plastic edge tabs at each side out from under the cabinet lip and slide the floor panel out.

@16345Ed and Willie (Budget Appliance Repair), thank you both for your answers. I was afraid I would have to take the doors off. I could see no other way, but was hoping for an easier fix.
