Whirlpool Duet GHW9150PW Loud Banging during spin

Hello.... our Whirlpool washer is making loud banging noises during the spin cycle.  I have checked that the 2 springs are present, 4 "shocks" are still attached and don't seem to be leaking or loose, the motor/belt and drive spider all seem to move fine.   There is movement of the entire drum at the front like it has no support and the metal rim has rubbed on the plastic lip enought to melt and flake some of it off (we had a great buring smell as the washer finally turned off).  I'm suspecting some type of hidden inner bearing, assuming it is not the one I see from the back on the spider with the large nut on it??.  I also assume the drain pump has plastic bits in it now too?  Any other checks to be done? Advice?

This washer is on it's second life and  fixed many years ago with a new motor control board from your excellent site.

Cheers

You’ll want to closely inspect your tub and door gasket for damage as well.

Yes, I thought the spider would be a separate metal part, silly me.  Agree time for a new one especially as the part doesn't ship to Canada (over size/weight) and in Canada this part is 75% of the cost of a new machine.

Thanks for the help and decision making!

Best regards
