Fridge stopped cooling. Compressor and evap fans working fine. No frost buildup. Compressor reads 15.8.6 No short to ground. Replaced start device but still no cool. Compressor turns on then tapers to a quiet hum. what else can I check? Thanks.

If the motor is turning but the system isn't cooling at the evaporator then you have a Freon leak or the gas in the system is plugged up at the filter. Either way its a Freon issue, not a mechanical issue.

If you motor keeps working with no freon it will burn itself up as the oil for it is in the freon.

Yep sounds like sealed system issue if compressor runs and no cooling. Time to shop.
