GE CYE22TSHSS Freezer defrost drain tube clogged

Hi all, GE Cafe with bottom freezer CYE22TSHSS was leaking water. I traced it to the drain tube and got all the ice out and assumed the drain tube was frozen. After about an hour flushing it with boiling water it still isn't draining so I'm assuming the check valve is stuck shut or something else is blocking it up. It's in a tight space so I'd like to avoid accessing the back if possible.

  1. Assuming the check valve is stuck, is that fixable from the front or does it need to be replaced?
  2. Any suggestions on materials I can stick into the drain hole to get it clear? I tried a variety of tubing and zip ties but none were small and flexible enough to get past the curve while strong enough to push through.

Thanks for your help.

May want to try the ice surrender kit or make something like it. The ice could be way in the drain tube. I've had to go in a far as 16" to clear a drain. Would also check the drain trap area in the back of the refrig.

@Vance R Foogoo doesn't seem to want to go there to do the job correctly.  I don't know what the drain tube is like on the back of a GE Cafe Refrig but if it has a rubber grommet anything like that was used on the Whirlpools then that's what he needs to do to clean the sticky grommet and/or take a little "V" nip out of the center to let it flow good and not stick back together blocking the drain again.

Just assumed it was a samsung built unit - I know dangerous. Subject to samsung drain issues. Looked on the web this refrig has a p-trap style drain. Either way the ice surrender kit should work.
