I have a refrigerator that stops cooling every few days. When it does this if I turn it off, with the cold control, and back on it will work for a few more days. What do you think, where do I start? Thanks

My apologies, I missed the Warm Refrigerator Troubleshooting Flow chart from above. The condenser fan is running. I had just cleaned the condenser coils about six months ago. So I just did it again tonight to be sure they are clean. Compressor is running and cycling on and off like it should for now. Like I said in my first post it will run fine for a few days then quit cooling (both sides) until I turn off the cold control and back on. Then runs fine for one to three days. I'm thinking thermostat, but I'm not sure.

I can tell you with pretty much 99% certainty that the thermostat is your problem.

Next time it starts warming up again, instead of turning the thermostat off and back on, just give the control console thermostat area a good whack with the palm of your hand - pretty much guarantee you it will start up.

When you disassemble the control console area to replace the thermostat, look under the thermostat on the white plastic under it you will likely see a fine black powder, (that's from the burned up arching points in the thermostat).

I don't know what it is about this style of Whirlpool built side by side refrigerator but I, and most likely other techs replace more of these than any others.

Thanks for the reply Budget Appliance Repair. Just so happens this morning it had quit cooling, and a light tap is all it took to get it running. I have now ordered the thermostat with confidence that is the problem. Thanks
