Hello everybody

In process of getting rid of a pesky fly which was hiding behind the freezer I pulled out the upright Brandt freezer which was working for nearly 35 years and as a result the power cord got pulled and came out.  It came out clean from where ever it was connected.  I am in a remote area and have no access to a proper repairman, hence this question and troubling you.

The cord has three wires.  1 green-yellow 2 beige 3 blue

the model is cv260gb Brandt freezer.

I have been trying to find a chart or photo to see where those ires are supposed to go, without any success.  Any help is greatly appreciated since everything in the freezer is starting to go bad.

regards

Jake

Is white with a green stripe usually ground in your country?

hi vee8power I think so because another green stripe was going to the body.  This brand (Brandt) is french made and this particular mode is nearly 45 years old.

Okay so green/yellow looks like it goes to position 3 on your photo. Blue maybe goes to 6, opposite the other blue wire and the last wire to 5. I'm not sure about that. I'm only familiar with American wiring. Maybe @J5*knows. That screw at number one holds down that plastic clamp; the whole power cord gets clamped there.

First I like to thank you for taking the time to answer me.

How sure are you about 6 and 5?  If I connect and plug and it is not correct can it cause any damage?  I am in no position to make it even worse :) is there anything I can test before making those connection and plugging in?

again thanks greatly appreciated.

I'm not absolutely sure. Does the power outlet the freezer is plugged into have a circuit breaker? You might try turning off the circuit breaker. Then make the connection, plug the cord in, then last, turn on the circuit breaker. This will minimize the risk of personal injury.

To tell you the truth. I don't recommend that you try it if you are unsure you can do it without getting hurt, but it sounds like you're hard up. Doing damage to the freezer that can't be repaired by a professional is unlikely.

I think you are on the right track

the colours don’t match up here but green and yellow is earth which looks like 3/4 are earth from the photo

6/5 active and neutral I don’t think would matter which one goes to which

7 is the overload so don’t go there

1/2 have no relevance

Thank you and merci beacoup to both for great help.   I don't think there is a possibility of personal injury.  I am not worried about that.  I just wanted to make sure I won't cause more damage.  Freezer is not my own.  I will try it this afternoon.  If you don't see smoke coming from direction of north east you know everything worked out fine :)

Hey guys, be careful - that model# tag shows this to be 220Vac

I'm pretty sure what @vee8power says is totally the correct hook-up, if it is a 220Vac appliance it shouldn't mater how #5 and #6 are hooked up - just have to make sure the Yellow with Green strip is the Ground/Neutral wire that goes to the #4 terminal.
