So I turned a 14.8 cuft deep freezer into a 6 tap kegerator.  (Called a Keezer, was popular with homebrewers).  Worked for a couple of years and sat for several more.

Now it doesn't get cold.  I can hear a humming sound when plugged in.

2 things I feel I should add.  One is I used an electric thermostat that cut power to the freezer when it reached beer cooler temps.  SO basically it was being plugged in and unplugged over and over.  Other is I have some foam nibbles around it, indicating mice have been involved in some way.

Keezer Picture.

The buzzing might be a locked up compressor.

Without delving into the many details related to compressor designs,  I'll just say that they are ALL specifically matched to their designed loads and operating temperature ranges.  Beings that you called upon that compressor to operate at a higher temperature range than designed, it likely succumbed to the higher pressures it had to deal with upon start up and during its cooling cycle.

The compressor possibly starved of lubricating oil too, since shorter cooling cycles didn't allow its return back to the compressor's sump.
