Kenmore Washer 110.20902991 just hums

It fills with water, but does not agitate, spin, or drain.  It just hums (motor).  Transmission?  Any help appreciated.

Start with the easy stuff, remove trim pieces from each side of console. Remove phillips screws and flip console up, unplug lid switch then remove cabinet clips and take off outer wrapper. This expose the tub assembly, the drain pump is clipped to the motor. Remove clips and pump from motor. You'll have to use a jumper to bypass lid switch and place into spin/drain with timer.  If motor works something is stuck in the pump. If still hums remove clips for motor and place on floor. Step on motor with your foot and redo spin/drain test with timer. If motor runs transmission is locked up. If still hums carefully spin motor by hand while motor is powered up. If it runs at this point probably start winding issue - usually in the motor. Carefully check motor connector for burnt terminals - sometimes these get loose and cause problems. If still hums you have a electrical issue. Let us know if you need more help.

Yup. You can twist the trans side drivecouple with your fingers, and I always use one of the pump clips to the turn the pump back and forth (they fit right in there)...

The newer direct drive,  3 speed motors in particular, eat windings on the regular! I replace them with the much cheaper 2 speed motor and run the lowest speed lead and normal speed piggy-backed together with no change in function (other no 3rd speed)
