I have a Whirlpool LSN1000KQO that does not spin. The timer was fried (several contacts burned) and has been replaced, as has the motor capacitor. Before I discovered the electrical issues, I thought it was the transmission so I took it off and took it apart.  Everything looked okay, so I put it back together and resealed it.

Presently I have no spin. I think I must have put it together wrong, but I want to ask if it could be the clutch assembly or brake, or something else? I've found a used transmission, but I think I may try to find a used washer for spare parts (since I've already bought a new timer).

Is there a list of Direct Drive, Neutral Drain Transmission washing machines that would use the same transmission, clutch, etc? I have gained from reading that there are quite a few makes that all use the same Neutral Drain stuff. If I could find any way of easily identifying similar type machines, that would be great.

an aside 👇

Even if I buy a working washing machine I don't ever want another one like the Roper RTW4640 I had. The whole assembly hangs from the top. I replaced the hanger/shock absorbers 3 times over 1 year. It would be okay for a while, then go back to out-of-balance shaking. The Whirlpool LSN1000 set-up with heavy springs to control movement at the bottom seems to be a much better way of doing things.

Thank you
