Whirlpool WRS576FIDM00 user interface programming

Thanks for reading.

I recently had my user interface on my Whirlpool WRS576FIDM00 go out. The frigerator and freezer still cooled but screen and ice making stopped working. I bought another user interface that was used in another refrigerator model WRS576FIDW00. After installing, cooling no longer occurs. 'Cooling off' on interface was not selected.

Is there a reprogramming that is needed? If so, how is that done? There is no code on the sticker inside the refrigerator that I see.

Thanks, Jeff

These models are prone to breaking wires at the bottom of the freezer door causing all kinds of issue with display and ice maker. Remove the hard plastic tube and inspect for broken wire and repair as needed. Soldering and shrink is preferred method to repair wires, then put a flexible mesh sleeve over the wires. Your old module is probably ok to use.

sometimes the wire is broken inside the covering of the wire and appears to be ok. pull on all the wires one by one and if you can pull it apart the wire is broken
