Fisher & Paykel DEIX2 Dryer Keeps tripping t-stat Please Help

Recommended Posts

Dryer will run about 5 times before tripping the re-settable t-stat. I have cleaned the entire dryer lint system including the round lint trap ring on the left side of the drum, all the areas around the element, the hose behind the dryer and the vent from the inside to the outside. I have replaced both  elements and the re settable t-stat.  What else am I missing? Is there a circuit board that is involved in this system? Thanks for your help.

How about the lint trap the customer cleans each load? Run water over it to ensure it flows through and doesn’t pool up.

So the lint trap on this dryer is a plastic cup, the other part is the lint ring. I have ran water through it and it is functioning correctly.  Thanks though.

On these dryers there is a lint screen that you need a screwdriver to remove on the left hand side after you pull the cup out

have you pulled this out ?

if the over temp is tripping then it’s going to be an airflow issue

The lint screen you are speaking of that you need a screwdriver to remove on the left hand side after you pull the cup out  is the round lint trap ring I mentioned in my original post, so yes I have cleaned and inspected that lint screen.  Thanks though for the input.

Are there any tears in the filter ring?  Tears will allow lint to pass through and possibly build up into an obstruction in the exhaust airflow housing past the filter.  That happened on my unit.  Only proper access to clear the accumulation is complete disassembly (pulling the chassis out of the cabinet, removing the left-side chassis panel for access to clean the housing).  Did you do that as part of cleaning "the entire dryer lint system?"

Make sure the exhaust is not obstructed.  No excess length on the ducting between the dryer and wall, no sharp bends or sags that obstruct the airflow.  This much obstruction shown in Pic 1 would sometimes cause an airflow fault on mine.  I must set the dryer at an angle to the rear wall to allow for a straighter shot into the exhaust flume (which is straight through an exterior wall).  The dryer sits at a corner of the room.  As the 2nd photo shows, the exhaust hole is cut too close to the corner, can't move the dryer any further left.
