Hi all...so good to be part of this great forum.  I have a Amana Smoothtop Cooktop electric range.  My surface burner control switch needs to be replaced.  I have looked at all of the appliance sites and keep seeing that the switch I need is no longer available or manufactured.

My model is Amana AK2H30W3-P1131565 N W.  The manufacturer/part number is 0309550.  The switch is made by Harper-Wyman, made in Mexico, 6670G0012B,
31 309550 02 0, 240 Vac 15 Amps RES, Mexico H9545.  This is all stamped on the switch.  If anybody has this Amana range somewhere in your possession and would like to sell me the switch, please let me know.  If anybody can help me find this switch, I would surely appreciate it.

Thank you,

Not coming up with anything from all my sources - looks like they stopped making this switch in 2005, (Your switch and range was manufactured around Nov.1995).

This isn't a part you really want to purchase used unless you can return it - any used switch of this age is going to have burnt contact points and could fail at anytime even if it works when you get it.

By any chance do you see any other numbers/letters on the switch?  Something like INF-??? (??? = 3 numbers)

Thank you Willie for your response.  All numbers on the switch are listed on my post.   I understand your thoughts on this issue.  I am hoping that I can adapt a similar switch from another range that is available.  My concern is attaching the wires from my wire  harness to the new switch correctly.  Any other thoughts?

Thank you so much

I would have to see a wiring diagram and the terminals on the old switch.

If it were mine and I couldn't find the switch for the dual element I would most likely rig a regular switch for a large element so that it would just be a large element without the option for the dual, (both sections of the element on and cycle when using this element instead of the option for small and large).

You might be able to use this switch to do the above - usually these older units have AMP rated switches that have to match up to the amperage of the element it is controlling.   Some of the newer switches are voltage rated switches and can be used on either the smaller 1200 Watt elements or larger 2500 Watt elements.

It looks like the switch that is a replacement for the Left-Front element, (the only switch still shown to be available), has been replaced with a voltage rated switch so there is a good chance this one could also be used to replace the Left-Rear switch with just a slight modification of the wiring.   Using a piggy back connector at the switch so both wires that would normally go to the small and large ribbons of the element are both on the H2 connector of the new switch or just use one of the wires and make a jumper at the element itself between the terminals for the large and small ribbons.

Hi Vance...thanks for getting back to me. I went to the parts site.  Unfortuntely the compatible models shown on their site did not include my Model number.  So lose but yet so far.  Any  other thoughts, ideas, sites to search.  Appreciate your time on my behalf.

Thanks

Didn't use your model number to search. Used your part number off the old part - that what came up. This should the part you need.

@crestone I think that is the closest your going to get.

Also, no need to start a duplicate discussion.

Here's the same switch at APP - with other questions about it

Hello all and thanks for your comments and thoughts.  I checked the switches you all recommended.  I was given no guarantee from the parts houses that these switches would be compatible .  Upon close examination, the terminals were the same configuration but the numbers next to the terminals were labeled differently when compared to my switch.  It would be an uncertain purchase as well as a safety issue in a guessing game that could go on and on.

My best and safest path moving forward is to find the exact switch or purchase a new cooktop.  Sounds like planned obsolescent to me.  Anyway, I will keep searching for a little while longer.  If you have any luck in finding the switch to pass my way I would sure appreciate it.  I need to find a parts house that collects and saves  a number of old cooktop parts and switches.  An old Amana would be perfect.

Thanks again
