My Maytag MFC2062FEZ01 fridge stopped cooling a few days ago. The lights turn on inside but it's not freezing or cooling. The user display inside is also blank (but if you push a button the indicator lights all light up and then go away).  I'm guessing I need to change the control board?  If I buy a new one and install it, how do I go about programming it?  Or is it more of a plug and play?  Appreciate any help!

Specifically the main control board, not the user interface board.

Those boards are very common.

If you end up replacing it the programming sequence is notoriously hard to get into.

There's some videos on Youtube that will help you get the button pressing sequence and rythm right.

Thanks.  I didn't find anything specifically for that control board model on Youtube.  I did find some videos for other Maytag fridges like this link below, I will try to see if that works when the replacement comes in.

Replaced the control board and it started working immediately.  I guess no need to program anything for this model.  Thanks though!

That's weird. I just did one the other day with the same exact symptoms. I installed the board and it only displayed zeros in the display. I've never seen one that didn't require programming. The "personality" could be effected slightly. Not sure. Did your board come with programming instructions?

No instructions but I bought a re-manufactured one.  Could that be why?  Should I still try to reset the programming?  It's working fine right now after installing it 6 days ago.

@vaccine Being a rebuilt board it most likely was still programed with the original code of the unit it was originally in.

It very well could be the same code as yours is - I would suggest you go into the programming mode and check if it is the correct code and if not reprogram it to the correct code.

I don't want to break it if it's working but I will try it out.  My code listed on the inside of my fridge is only 2 digits long.  The videos I've seen on Youtube are 4 digits long.  This gonna cause a problem?

Posted

@vaccine as far as I know all the codes that are to be entered are only 2 digits long - the display does show 4 digits, (00 XX where XX is your code).

I did try to reprogram the code, and it looks like it was already matching my actual code.  So I guess we just got super lucky lol!
