First of all, I'm sorry this is not a repair question, but I figured this is the best place to ask.

I'm picking up a brand new GE washing machine (GTW335ASNWW) and I only have my minivan.  Since I've got about 40 inches of clearance in the back, it would have to be placed on its front/side.  My question is, if I leave the packing bolts in place and position it carefully in the back of the van on its front (or side) what are the odds that damage would occur (I've read about bearing/drum pads/etc. that could be damaged)?  I'd be traveling about 20 miles on smooth highway.

Thanks, BD Weller

Refer to what the box says. They are usually clearly marked if they aren’t to be laid a certain way.
