Ge Cafe CYE23TSDCSS freezer not cold but fridge works fine

I have a Ge Cafe CYE23TSDCSS freezer that is not freezing but the fridge upper is cold. Had a tech come take a look and he said the coils had no frost on them for for the freezer. He did no more diagnosing than that $100 to put his hand on the coils. He also said it could be a clog in the sealed system. I was hoping somebody would have another opinion of what else it might be. We did have a power outage from a tornado that lasted 2 days before this happened. I was able to get a generator and 10 minutes after plugging in fridge to the generator  the power came back on. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a dual evaporator refrigerator so a 3 way valve is used to control refrigerant flow.  May want to start simple - just unplug the refrig for a few minutes and plug back in to reset board if you haven'y already done this procedure.  The freezer evap with no frost could be sealed system issue or control board issue.  The power outage and/or the generator could have caused problems with the control board.

I have tried the unplug to reset a few times now so no go there. So is there a way to check the board to see if something is wrong on the board or is there a way to check the 3 way valve. Thank you for the help.

Take the back machine compartment cover off and find the 3-way valve. Unplug the refrig and put your hand on the valve, then plug refrig back in. During the start up routine you should feel the valve vibrate as the board is homing the valve.

3 way valve does vibrate when starting back up and all 3 lines going from valve are cold. If that makes a difference.

That is a start, means the board is controlling the 3 way valve and the valve is responding.  The drier and 3 way valve tubes should be room temp or just above room temp in a normal working system. How long was the system running when you felt those tubes? What is the temp of the discharge line from the compressor to the condenser?

The tubes are just above room temp. I just felt them after I was done with the valve. I am not a 100% on the which line is the discharge on the compressor but one line is room-ish temperature and the other is warm to the touch but not overly hot.

The system has been running all day other than when I unplugged to check the valve

Should have started with these codes from refrigerator. 304, 105, 112, 300, 100. Also I did a service diagnostic test through the control panel and the FZ fan test came back with no RPMS all other fans worked.

Think you need to check frost pattern on freezer. There is a service bulletin about evaps icing up and causing fan to stop resulting in no cooling.

304 - freezer temp exceeds 72 deg

105 - condenser fan cannot reach target speed

112 - Deli - pan missing feedback when running

300 - manual had no info

100 - freezer fan missing feedback

Clear the error code. See which one come back.  Check freezer and freezer defrost thermistors.

Yup this info would have been nice to know up front.
