I noticed my frozen goods weren’t frozen solid. I cleaned coils under fridge well. Took the lower cover off the back to look at the electrical. I’m an electrician so I can at least check for power. Got power coming in from the power cord, but none to the compressor or fan. Found a way to reset everything online by unplugging at the wall. Set fridge setting to “off” and freezer as low as it would go. Plugged fridge back in and changed settings back to the normal temps. I heard the compressor kick on and within a few hours my freezer was back at 0 degrees. Noticed a couple of hours later that temps were on the rise again and compressor and fan again had no power. Reset everything as before and it’s now running again.  Something is obviously failing. Any ideas?

This is a whirlpool side by side, model #ED5VHEXVB04 if this helps. Temp in freezer this morning was 40 degrees. Unplugged and plugged back in. Again compressor kicks on and temps are falling.

The cold control is probably failing. When is stops cooling, try to adjust the freezer and fridge control, or flick a bit... if the compressor kicks it, it's time to change the cold control.

Wow!  Came home from a little kayaking and the temps were climbing again.  Adjusted fridge and freezer control to "colder" setting and the compressor kicked on.  Sounds like I'll be ordering a new cold control.  That's where I'll start anyway.  Thank you!!!
