My french door  Electrolux has been trouble free since 20011, model EI-23BC51IS.  I recently noticed high temps in the fridge and freezer, also some frost in the freezer.  Called a tech, his initial thought was main board.  He called some Electrolux tech line and they went through a PD session.  Turns out the freezer heater is not getting 120v, only 15-30v.  There is 120v at the control board, so he said there is something wrong with the "brown" wire leading to the heater.  Now the kicker, that wire is in the insulation, cannot be changed and the fridge is toast!

 That seems so wrong for such a minor problem.  Can I mcGyver this somehow?

Update..  I wanted to take a picture of the circuit board and where the brown wire came from, so I could mcgyver is.. Well, he started testing voltages again, it was 13.5v on a screw, and 121v against the ground!  He called the tech line again and they said, based on the resistance through the heater, it was the heater thermostat.   The part should be in Monday, so a Tuesday appointment.  Wow..  So my inquisitiveness saved me a $2000+ replacement, plus the general agg...  I don't think he was trying to cheat me, but it could have been a completely unnecessary huge expense.   Maybe this is what happens when you do appliance repair via tech support, rather than experience and knowledge.
