Whirlpool GW397LXUS05 possible control board fail

Recommended Posts

Greetings. I'm nervous about springing the big bucks for a control board (WPW10177195) for this range but I can't see any other reason for the bake igniter failing to glow. Here's what I got so far . . .

  • Both broil and bake igniters work in the broil circuit; neither work in the bake plug.
  • No voltage or current in bake igniter circuit when oven control is turned on (though I do hear the faint relay click, same as when the broil control is used).
  • Safety valve terminals have continuity (both broil and bake valves).
  • Temp sensor impedance reads 1080 ohms at room temp.
  • The control panel appears fully functional in every way (except no oven glow or light-up!).
  • I also attempted to measure voltage from bake ignitor to ground when oven control was on (calling), but no voltage.

My provisional conclusion: the control board is not calling for the oven when I select oven on. It's goofed.

Have I missed anything? Something else I should suspect? Test? Can't see any fuse in this thing . . . ?

Thanks so much for any insights you folks might offer  :)

Randy
