Hello, Very thankful to find this site.

Serial number AF510203

My GE Refrigerator is requiring service.  We first noticed both icemakers stopped making ice at the same time.  Inspection revealed the FZ temp was 24F and the FF temp was 37F.  The desired settings are FZ 0F and FF 37F.   It was at this point I noticed some items in the FZ defrosting.

I took the service panel off the back bottom to vacuum out the dust and inspect that.  I noticed the condenser fan was not running and everything was VERY hot.

I placed the unit into service mode and ran all 6 fan tests.

results:

FF Fan Test (evap) - 0RPM

FZ Fan Test (evap) - 2410RPM

Condenser Fan Test - 0RPM

Ice Box Fan Test - 2117RPM

Deli/QC Fan Test - 3792 RPM

Convertible Drawer Fan Test - 0 RPM

What are your opinions?

Replace the 3 fans?

Where is the Deli/QC fan? I don't see that fan in any parts diagrams.  Is that fan really all that critical?

There is a bulletin attached to the replacement part for the FF Fan.  It states I must install a software upgrade (WR98R882802) if the serial number is between HD - FF which I'm not certain how to interpret compared to my serial number above.

FF Fan: WR60X26866

Condenser Fan: WR60X23363

Thank you for your consideration.

Tracy

So I figured out my serial number.

It starts with AF which is January 2015.   This means my unit requires the software update module with the new Evap fan because it falls between HD and FF.

HD = May 2015

FF = March 2015

I've ordered both fans above and the update module.  I'll keep the forum up to date on what happens next.  In the mean time I've placed a box fan behind the unit to keep it cool.  Oh, and it's making ice again and the temperatures are normalizing!  Parts will be here in a few days.
