Whirlpool WTW5000DW1 Horrendous Noise While Washing

Recommended Posts

My washing machine is LOUD.

We thought there was something stuck under the washplate. When I removed the washplate, I found a metal collar stay, which I removed. But I put everything back together and the noise is still there. Here's a video of it in action:

What do you think? The washplate still appears to be spinning, though it is incredibly difficult to spin by hand anymore (it used to spin freely when I would be trying to take it off). I removed it and tried moving that shaft on its own and it was very difficult to spin. I did replace the hub because the teeth had worn smooth and everything was back to normal.

Thanks in advance!

Tom

Well, never got a response here from anybody. I checked with Appliance Parts Pros and now I'm replacing the whole gearcase.

For anybody stumbling on this thread, replacing the gearcase did not help. I am reaching out to APP for answers.

Just from the sound, check to see if there's something stuck in the motor or if the motor pulley isn't attached well.

It seems to be the right pitch for a motor noise.

Sounds like washplate is bad. It makes the noise while agitating.
