LG DLGX4071W dryer still making thump noises after replacing all four rollers+shafts and belt

Greetings,

My 7-year-old LG dryer started making a rhythmic bump-bump noise with each revolution of the drum last week.  I did my research and learned about roller failure, so I ordered a repair kit and replaced all four rollers+shafts, and the belt as well while I was in there.  I did not see any noticeable wear or damage on the parts I removed, just a bit of hair and fuzz wrapped around the roller shafts, but nothing that prevented easy movement.  Regardless, I trusted that these were wear components, so I expected the new parts should fix the noise.

I put it all together and the noise remains.  It's a distinct "bump-bump" with each revolution of the drum.  Could this be a problem with the drum itself?  Could the bearing surfaces of the drum have gotten damaged or distorted?  Are there other possible causes for this noise?

I appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

Any signs of cracks in the drum especially in the area where the rollers ride

Left or right side panel may be dented or pressed in, and the drum is colliding it.

I had a similar problem on a service call a few weeks ago. Turned out a roller wheel shaft on the bottom of the bulkhead was bent. I can't for the life in me figure out why that caused it, I can't seem to form a mental image of how that would cause a bump noise... But it fixed their issue.

I’ve seen these drums split at seam. I’d inspect it carefully.

I had this problem and found the drum had a crack in it which made the rollers thump every revolution

That's probably just the welded seem of the drum, unless it's cracked.

Also, if the repair kit you installed was an aftermarket brand they are not very good.

The thump could be from flat spots that develop on the rollers when it's not in use and the weight of the drum is pressing on them.

I only use genuine LG drum rollers because of this.

If the dryer gets quieter as it runs and heats up it's probably flat spots.
