A couple days ago I received the LE code on my WM3170CW washing machine a few minutes into running a cycle. The drum spins easily in both directions when the power is off. When attempting to run a wash cycle, the motor will try to move but magnetically locks and hums. Occasionally it will spin briefly for about 1/2 of a rotation and make a loud growling sound. Searching the code, it seemed the most likely cause was the hall sensor. I bought a replacement hall sensor (6501KW2002A) from the local appliance parts store and installed it. However, that did not resolve the issue.
