Kenmore dishwasher (665.16263402) making loud noise intermittentlyse

Hi. Trying to diagnose a friends dishwasher. It seems to perform just fine but makes a very loud noise while in washing cycle... hoping someone might help me sort this out. Thanks!

Start with inspecting the chopper blade, several youtube videos on how the remove and replace. Look under the dishwasher to see if motor seal is leaking, sign of a bad bearing.

Can I run the washer after removing the chopping blade/macerator to see if it still makes the loud noise? Or can it only run with the macerator in place? Thanks!

Yes, remove all the loose part before starting the DW.

OK. Successfully removed the chopper... looked fine... there had been some stuff under the filter but above the chopper housing that I removed... didn't appear to have been impacting anything... reassembled without the chopper assembly. Started... Same sound. No significant noise when draining... next troubleshooting step? Or if it gets to where might as well just replace this previously owned dishwasher at my friends place... just say so. thx!

Your down to something in the wash pump impeller area or a bad motor bearing.
