Dishwasher Issue - Selling my home next week! Help! Kitchenaid KUDC10FXSS5

Recommended Posts

Hi gurus! Hope all is well. I have a Kitchenaid KUDC10FXSS5 dishwasher and am moving next week so need to get this figured out ASAP. I have never had an issue with the dishwasher but when I have tried to run it today, it sounds like it is starting up for about 90 seconds and then the machine shuts down. I also cant figure out for the life of me how to put the unit into diagnostic mode. One other thing to note - when I was emptying the dishwasher the other day, I noticed a fork had fallen to the bottom of the dishwasher. Thank you so much for any help and guidance you can provide.

Update - so one issue i think i figured out is that no water seems to be getting into the machine. The water is definitely on as no one has touched that.....

When the machine is turned on, you should hear the drain pump first, then water, then water spraying.

after the drain pump shuts off, do you hear the water valve turning on in the dishwasher? Or even just put your hand on the valve on the bottom of the dishwasher, is it vibrating?

do you have a multimeter?

And another update - nevermind - water is filling in the bottom of the dishwasher. Then it all shuts down.

Thank you SO much for your reply. So the drain pump seems to be working and water is filling in the bottom of the machine. It's right after that point that everything stops working

And yes - i do have a multimeter although I would need a bit of guidance on how to properly use and test

What do you mean by “it all shuts down” does the water drain? Or does the water remain in the tub?

Are there any error codes? To check, enter diagnostics.

Press Start key to wake up the control panel. Press and 3 keys in the sequence 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 with no more than 1 second between key presses.

NOTE: Some models have replaced the “Clean” LED with “Completed.”

If the “clean” led is blinking count how many times it blinks before it pauses then count how many times it blinks again. This will give you the error code first set blinks is F#. Second set is E# .. giving error code F#E#

Thank you again. So I just paid even closer attention. Unit fills with hot water then I get a humming/buzzing sound (maybe a burnt motor attempt) 2-3 times and then the drain kicks in. I spent about an hour earlier tonight trying to get the unit into diagnostics mode with no luck. What is also very odd - is that somehow the dishwasher now seems to be working!! So it may be a case of a motor on it's way out? Im hoping that the issue is fully fixed but if i run into the same issue tomorrow - any suggestions? And thank you so much.

Sometimes you have to reset the power to the unit to get it into diagnostics

Have you checked the soft food  chopper blades?

Hi again - so somehow the unit started working and was working the last few days. I did nothing special to make it work. Now today the unit is stopping and shutting off at some point during the drying cycle. Not sure where in the drying cycle it shuts off. Any thoughts?
