Kenmore Elite model 110.28081700 UL error

I think all this needs is new suspension rods.  What I am suspicious of is that the machine will not go into diagnostic mode.  I tried many times following the I am tech sheet.  Makes me think a possible CCU failure.  Lid locks and machine stops after wash cycle and displays UL error.  Any help appreciated.

Bad bearings can cause this on these. Tilt back so you can look underneath. See any rusty water looking stuff anywhere?
