Kenmore Laundry Center model 417.94802301 drum will not turn

The belt is ok, but the drum will not turn at all.  It is bound up.  Any suggestions?  Sounds like the motor.  What would totally bind up the drum?

Lid switch ok?

Something caught between basket and tub?

Possible the basket has dropped and is rubbing the tub. Remove the agitator and look at tunnion block, if one or both bolt are loose or broken the basket will drop.

@Vance R and @16345Ed Those are things that it can be IF it is the washer spin basket @AWSHandy is talking about and calling the drum.

This being a Frigidaire built laundry center we have no idea if it is the washer or the dryer @AWSHandy is talking about!!!!

Usually if talking about the drum it would be the dryer - basket or spin basket - the washer.

Which is it @AWSHandy

Same LOL 😂 could be the rear bearing finally stopped squeaking and came apart.

It is the dryer.  Cannot turn it by hand.  True, if the blower wheel is jammed up, the motor will not turn...BUT you should still be able to turn the drum with difficulty.  The belt cannot totally prevent the drum from turning.  Rear ball and socket bearing can totally fail...BUT...should still be able to turn the drum with force.  Something is holding onto or interfering with drum movement.  I just want to be armed with likely parts when I go back to repair.  Any help anyone?

So the usual failure with rear bearing is the ball wears the plastic cup and start sqeaking. If you lube the plastic bearing at this time the squeak will go away for a year or 2. If you don't lube the plasitic bearing it will wear faster and the metal bracket start rubbing on the shaft of rear bearing. This rubbing wears the shaft and will cut the ball off the shaft. Odd part is just before this happens the sqeak stops. Once the ball is cut off the drum will drop slightly and jam againist the element pan. Sometime it touchs the element and takes out the element.  So my swag is rear bearing kit and element restring kit.

Vance, I think you are correct on this one.  I am not sure what the "element restring kit" is though. Could you please clarify..thank you

Instead of the pan assembly you replace just the element:

Dryer element part number Q622034
