I have a Kenmore washing machine that stops at the drain cycle beeps and flashes LD.  If I unplug it a couple times and drain spin, eventually it will drain. I checked the pump it is not clogged but can’t figure out what the issue is. I was thing bad pump or capacitor but like I said it will eventually drain but not during a cycle. Will a bad pump work sometimes?

Yes.

Model number with a model number would be able to give better advise. BUT, if the pump motor runs everytime and is not clogged odds are the impellar is loose or worn, time for new pump.

It’s a Kenmore Series 700. The pump won’t work every time. It is hit and miss at best and only after I try to “drain/spin” several times. When I took the pump off everything seemed ok. I do hear a humming noise when it should be pumping.

Sounds like a drain pump.
