Kenmore Dryer model 110.70022010 changes the auto dry setting on its own

Hello,

Clothes are coming out still wet.  I set the dryer to auto dry normal, and the rotary knob moves down thru less dry on its own, to off, while drying - thus clothes are wet when done.  Seems like this should not be happening.....any advice?

Thanks,

Scott

Is there any heat?

If there's heat,  is there still heat after 30 minutes of the dryer running? Is the vent possibly clogged?

It heats up, but the dryer will never run for 30 minutes, because the rotary switch moves on its own to off fairly quickly.  The vent is clear, I checked it.

Try timed dry to rule out issues with auto dry.

Timed dry works fine, and it selects high heat automatically.  I guess the question is "should the rotary switch be advancing as if on timed dry, when it is on auto dry?"

Samurai has a excellent video on how the timer advances in auto dry972175865_ScreenShot2020-12-27at8_49_02PM.thumb.png.1f531a803f6adcf06a0782a96cc58955.png

I cannot for the life of me find the moisture sensor.  It is a 2010.  Next to the blower housing I see the thermal fuse and the operating thermostat - does the operating thermostat on this model do the moisture sensing as well?

Here's the link to the part:  https://www.searspartsdirect.com/product/30g9pk622v-0026-110/id-3387134

Thanks!

There is no moisture sensor in this dryer, it use the cycling thermostat.

Ok, well, I took it out and cleaned it off, guess it doesn't hurt.

Then what should I be looking at for damp clothes at end of auto dry cycle, if timed dry works fine?

Have you watched the video yet?

I started to, got distracted.  I'll go back to it.

Thanks, Vance.  I went and watched that video, and understand it.  I was an electrician in the navy, so schematics aren't much trouble for me.

I haven't been able to find a schematic for my particular dryer, though I used the search tool here (after watching the video of how to search correctly here).  I did locate a video for testing the cycling thermostat, and from watching that I have inferred that when my model of dryer is on auto dry, it cycles the temperature at a lower control setpoint than timed dry, but otherwise works as a timed dry cycle.  I will be pulling my cycling thermostat to test that it doesn't open at too low a temperature, which I believe would cause my clothes to be warmed but damp at the end of an auto dry cycle.  Just in case, I have already ordered the thermostat as it's only $19.

Appreciate the help!
