Water in the crisper and ice under the drawer so I purchased the frost kit and tried to install it yesterday. Opened and removed the evaporator cover, thawed the ice present but water would not drain. Tried to thaw the drain tube from the top first by using a blow dryer and then by adding hot water directly into the drain tube with a syringe. No luck. Replaced the drain tubes above the evaporator pan at the back of the unit - the old ones were not clogged but I had new ones in the kit. Water still not draining. Snaked a piece of 12 gauge wire up the drain tube from the bottom - it went to the approximate level of the bottom of the drain pan with no resistance so I think that's clear. Tried to install the new heater clip but it would not go into the drain hole more than 2/3 - 3/4 of its length. Total time the unit was unplugged and the evaporator cover was off was ~ 4 hours. I think that would be plenty of time for ice in the drain tube to melt. I think there must be something solid clogging the drain tube - salt buildup from hard water or I dont know what else it could be. I don't have any anything going from the heater to the drain hole now so I'm sure it will ice up again soon. Any suggestions on how to proceed before I throw in the towel and call in a pro? Thanks.

We use steamers to clear the drains. Then scrub with vinegar, baking soda and trombone brush to remove scaling and other debris.

Google "ice surrender" it is for ge water dispenser that freeze, works for drain also. If your a DIYer use a sringe or old mustard sqeeze bottle and some tubing.

Thanks guys - I'll get some tubing and clear it out. Will flush it with vinegar and baking soda too.
