Can an appliance be trusted after a power surge?

Hi folks,

I have an Electrolux free-standing induction range, EI30IF40LBS, about 5 years old.  The appliance was hit by a surge due to a lightning strike - I was cooking on the cooktop at the time, surprise storm or it would have been off.  Encountered a big spark between the pan and the surface element that was in use (asparagus jumped right out of the pan!) and a puff of electrical smoke out the top of the control panel area.

I did attend MST a few years back, so I've done some troubleshooting, but am at an impasse.  None of the boards show evidence of a burned component.  The control panel is responsive and the oven functions as it should.  The cooktop controls also function as if they believe the surface elements are on, but they are not.  I tested each element at the board and have 0 ohms resistance which, according to the tech sheet, tells me they are good.  This leads me to believe one or both of the induction control modules are bad, but I'm not 100% certain without knowing exactly what to test on each of those boards.  Even if I can verify, at $600 for both boards, I'll likely scrap the range.

Anyway, I've read you just can't trust an appliance after a surge.  I'd be interested to hear techs' opinions on this.

Thanks.

A little more info - found left side cooktop generator board (Board 1) is burnt at L2, damage appears to be contained to that area.  Board 2 appears fine.  Though both boards are powered directly, my understanding is neither will power the surface elements if they cannot communicate with one another.  Debating on whether to replace the fried board.

They always become cheaters and crooks after surges. 😂 never trust them!
