Maytag MDB8959SBB0 dishwasher heating element stays on when machine is off

Opened my Maytag MDB8959SSB0 a few hours after the wash cycle ended and the heating element was still on. Switched off the circuit breaker (and later left it off for days), but whenever we turn turn the breaker on the heating element gets very hot right away, without starting any wash cycle.

Haven't tried running any dish washing cycles (didn't want to burn down the house) except I did try cancel/drain and it made all the normal noises but the heating element stayed on. The buttons all push, beep, and light up like normal -- though a few months ago there was some random beeping that came and went after cycling the circuit breaker off and on every once in a while, though that had stopped.

I'm guessing the random beeping might have been the control board (and I less concerned about the beeping any more, since it stopped - just mentioned it in case it matters).

Would a bad control board cause the heating element to stay on whenever the circuit breaker is on? Or is it something else?

Any ideas appreciated!

Sounds like the relay on the mainboard is stuck closed. Tiem to replace the board or the relay.

Thank you! Two more questions...

- Someone suggested checking for broken wires - could that also be a cause the heater to be stuck on?

- Could the relay being stuck closed also cause the occasional random beeping when the machine is off? Or would that be different part of the control board? Wondering if the beeps are another reason to replace the whole board, especially because I'm not experienced with working on a board / soldering (which is probably the best reason to replace the whole board).

Thanks!

Not likely, broken wires would make the heater not work.

Again not likely, intermittent beeping is usually a stuck key where ithe board is just responding to a phantom "key input".

Make a lot of sense - thank you very much!

I'm gonna pull out the control board, and see if it looks like I can fix the relay, or if I need to go for the new board.

Looking at the different parts store online, seeing very different pricing for a new board - kinda crazy...

This one is $310 - https://www.maytagreplacementparts.com/PartDetail/Main-Control-Board/W10589069/3023001

And this one is $174 - https://www.genuinereplacementparts.com/maytag-mdb8959sbb0-dishwasher-control-module-assembly-genuine-oem

Does it just pay to shop around? Or is there something else I should be look for? Both claim to be OEM.

As a diy'er - yes.  Google the part number and do some shopping.

About that part number.... I've pulled the control board out, and see that the part number is:

W10380486 Rev A

It's the "Rev A" part that I'm wondering about... When I enter the model number of the dishwasher, this store leads me to the control board, but when I zoom in on the part number in the picture, it's: W10380486 "Rev C"

https://www.genuinereplacementparts.com/maytag-mdb8959sbb0-dishwasher-control-module-assembly-genuine-oem

Would you trust the site to lead to an appropriate match? Or hold out and either call them or try to find the "Rev A"  ??

Of course, it's the last one at the best price I've found so far...

Ty!
