Hi - I have a question about the oven. I was smelling gas while the stove and oven were off. I tracked the smell down to INSIDE of the oven. Again, it’s not turned on. It’s like the gas is free flowing in the stove when it isn’t required. What can be causing this?

A leak - could be from the gas line or connection fitting being loose or oven gas valve. Turn off the gas at the wall and ventilate the area.

So I pulled the stove out and checked. No lines are leaking and the smell is only within the oven. No outside. Do those safety valves go bad? Can the safety valve stay open when it’s bad?

On the gas regulator, I stopped the flow of gas to the oven for now. No more smell.

Thanks a bunch. I’ll swap the safety valve.
