weird problem with the timer on my maytag washer.if i turn the timer knob it seems like its stripped, the dial with the indicator does not move.if i turn the dial itself the timer clicks and advances as it should.its fine for me because  im strong enough in the fingers to turn it,for my wife not so much.is there a fix for this issue or do i need a new timer?

You need a new timer unless you are handy and can disable the timer and replace the pin that goes thru the shaft and engages the cam engagement part.

No parts are available to repair the timers this would have to be all on your own.   Sometimes can be difficult to get back together again if you have never opened up one yet and done self repairs inside the timer.
