Samsung refrigerator mode number rf28hmedbsr.

I got a call for this refrigerator and I found the whole icemaker compartment to be melted. Some of the parts don't seem to show up or parts diagrams. I basically need everything plastic inside the ice compartment including the actual compartment itself. Anyone ran across this and is there a fix.

I have pictures if I can figure out how to post them

You need to upload the pictures to a picture hosting site and post the link here.   FREE/Grasshoppah members can't post pictures.

I'm not really familiar with Samsung but I think from your description, the customer has trashed their refrig and there isn't going to be anything you can do for them.

Can't tell from the parts diagrams if this is the Direct-Cool-Ice Maker system or not, (they have had many problems with them and if you don't defrost correctly by forcing icemaker defrost before trying to remove the ice maker you can break the cooling lines for the ice maker which destroys the refrigerator).

Yes it is direct cool icemaker and I have taken it out. I read something about these icemakers doing this and there was a recal but you had to be a member to read more. I was hoping someone that worked on Samsung more than me would be familiar with this problem.

I think Samsung refrigerators are trash to start with but my coustomer wants to fix it. At this point I think it is unfixable unless someone else has some insight.

Sounds to me like the customer got in there with a hair dryer or heat gun and not knowing what they where doing melted down the liner.

If that is the case, it's going to be too bad for this customer - not going to be fixable if they have melted the liner and you can't get everything back together and sealed correctly.

I think you're going to have to get some pictures posted if you want another opinion on if they have damaged it beyond repair.

Ok thanks

I was thinking the heat came from the ice mold heater being stuck on. I am not sure this icemaker has one.  If someone did this they put a heck of alot of heat in that thing. I was not told of any previous repair attempts.

I have seen 3 or 4 icemakers (other brands) melt similar to this when the mold heater gets stuck on. In any case I was just trying to firgure out if it was repairable as it doesn't seem to be a way to replace the compartment.

Everything plastic inside the ice compartment is melted.

I have allready told my coustomer it is non repairable.
