Whirlpool electric microwave / oven combo WOC95EC0AS01 - microwave door not closed

Recommended Posts

Observation
Over the last couple of years the door often needs an extra push on the right side to recognize that it is closed. The frequency of this have increased and recently it occassionally also finds the door is open after the microwave has started and then stops.

Attempt to diagnose
It seems like a purely mechanical problem.

I have not found a diagram that shows the actual sensors for whether the door is open or not.

There are two black triangle "buttons" at the top corners, close to the edge of the opening. The one to the left you can push in mechanically. The one to the right you can only push in about 1/5 of the way. Are these the switches that recognize if the door is open?

How to repair?

Those are the door switches, yes. I think both have to be pressed at the same time. If the one on the right doesn’t work when both are pressed I’d try replacing the switch. Takes some disassembly on that one
