Kenmore refrigerator 253.62812202 (garage fridge) not working after severe (for Texas) cold week

I know that we shouldn't complain about getting this cold at anytime in the last 100 years! Temps got to -2 F, no temp above freezing for a week. Have not had a problem with our normal cold temps. Fridge has been through 8 normal Texas winters. Unit has power. Light comes on when opened. No apparent cooling.

Real question is after this kind of cold is there something that should be expected to fail? Is it a matter of some kind of a reset procedure. Is it likely damaged severely. Out side of my experience. When I lived in the cold never had a fridge in the garage...Ah, new experiences.....🤔

It depends on the model, but a lot of refrigerators will do nothing until the refrigerator section gets above the mid 30's, and even then won't properly cool and freeze with an ambient temperature much below 55.

Just wait for good weather and it should be fine.

Thanks Terry. Temps should get into upper 40s today and remain above freezing for several days. I'll just keep an eye on it. Appreciate your time....

Thanks again Terry. Unplugged unit. Opened doors for about 4 hours to stabilize temps. Plugged back in and closed doors then checked back about 2 hours later. It was working! You hit it exactly. Of course you knew that😁.

Thanks
