Frigidaire Dishwasher uo Code Easy Fix vs $75 Blower Unit Replacement

Recommended Posts

Had the dreaded "uo" error code and thought I'd spend $75 to replace the unit.

Instead, I pulled out the dishwasher, reached above the top shelf with it halfway out, unscrewed the blower cap that holds it in place (unscrews like a peanut butter lid), pulled off the wire harness, and then took the plastic cover off the top (2 screws on one side, 2 plastic clips on other end).

The problem was calcium deposits on the rubber seal that closes to seal.  I pulled a u-shaped clip, took out the rubber plug, cleaned it under water and with a tooth brush until all whie deposits gone, put the seal back in place, put the top back on, installed the unit, put the lower ring cap back on, put the dishwasher back in the cabinet, and was done.

I was able to test to make sure no error before putting it back in the cabinet since i have long water, drain, and electric leads just to pull it out to check it.

I bet a lot of folks with hard water do NOT check and simply spend $75 to replace it.

It took me 15 min to pull out the unit, 5 min to get blower / vent unit disconnected and out, 5 min to get blower cover off (carefully), 10 min to clean the rubber vent plus reinstall the center clip, 5 min to reassemble and 5 min to put in the dishwasher, and 10 min to put dishwasher back under the cabinet.  So done in less tha 1 hour and it works fine.  Saved my wife 3 days of dishwashing to get the new part, plus $75 plus part shipping.

Try this before you buy a new blower / vent unit.
