GE GDT545PGJBB dishwasher only runs when door sensor switch is unscrewed from frame

As the title says.  I replaced the switch, screwed it in and nothing.  Unscrewed it and it started right up.  Screwed it in again, and nothing.  I tried various horizontal and vertical shims, and no improvement.  It's as if something is out of physical alignment, but I can't find it.  I'm getting no errors, other than door not closed.  Something really odd going on.   Thanks in advance for any insight.

Level.  It needed more leveling.
