This microwave is exhibiting the following behavior.  Sometimes the microwave will just turn off while heating.  It must be unplugged for the power to come back and the touchpad controls to be able to be used.  Other times, after heating something up, the microwave power is off and the touchcreen unresponsive.  Again, it is resolved by unplugging.  I am thinking it could be the thermoprotector, thermostat, or thermal fuse.  Which one would cause this behavior?

Does the display go blank like no power or does it lock up?

Posted

Vance,  the display does go blank...like no power.

Looks like there are 2 tco's, 1 for mag tube, 1 for cavity. Next would be loose connection in wire harness. Need to verify 120 vac to main board using secondary relay white wire for neutral and CN3 pin 1 black wire for line.

TCO?  Might you have part numbers?  I think the heat is knocking out the power since after unplugging, it always works, then goes out after the heating.

I would like to have all the parts I might need before I take it down from over the range.

You don't have to take down microwave to work on it. Make a few test before buying parts. Just go to vendors on the web for parts info like appliance parts pros, repair clinic, sears.

I already have the part numbers.  Are TCOs the thermostat and thermal fuse?

Posted

TCO stands for thermal cutout so it would the thermal fuse.

In my situation, it was the control board.
