Fridgedaire KSBS25INSS01 Ice Maker Repair

My ice maker failed and by taking the ice maker apart I found that the copper traces connecting to the heater element burned away. Replacement parts for the module run about $100 on various online parts stores. I found a complete ice maker assembly at Walmart.com for about $45 that matched the model number written on my control model and my plan was to remove the module an place it on my unit. When I received the unit it does not look compatible. First of all the unit I received has a metal bar to turn off and on the ice maker. My freezer has an eye beam to stop the ice making. Other than that the ice make parts look identical. I have a few questions on usability of the ice make I bought.

1) Can I just install the ice make I bought and plug it in and expect it to work? The electrical plug looks identical and compatible with my freezer plug.

2) There are only 4 wires connecting both ice makers. I assume it is 2 for power and two for the water valve. How does the eye beam in my freezer stop the ice maker from working?

3) If I install the icemaker with the bar in my freezer will the eyebeam still stop the ice flow when the tray is full? If that is the case can I remove the bar altogether.

Will start with this a Kitchenaid refrigerator with a module style ice maker.

1. Yes - you'll need to swap the fill cup and stripper fingers off the old ice maker to the new ice maker.

2. The 4 wires are line, neutral, water valve and ground. The electronic module cuts the power on the line wire going to the ice maker for control.

3. Remove the metal bar, it is not need to control bin level. Just leave the "bar" pivot area in the down position.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is a Kitchenaid. I realized that after I posted and did not know how to edit.
