Fisher & Paykel dish drawer dilemma

Recommended Posts

My 10 year old F&P DS605I dish drawer stopped working and threw an F2 fault, so I took a look inside. Interior under filter plate was completely gummed up with muck. I pulled the rotor assembly and found the blue plastic jacket around the motor was shredded. So, definitely a new rotor. But here's the dilemma: careful inspection shows the interior sides of the motor assembly are damaged also - almost as if parts of the motor jacket are now smeared around the motor sleeve interior. See pic attached.  So... new motor assembly also? Or see if just the rotor replacement does the trick? Or am I better off replacing the whole machine?

Thanks for any advice.

It sure looks like something got jammed in there -- I would just replace the rotor which is super simple and see how it works.  I can't tell if that plastic chunk in the channel should be there (I have a DS603) but if it were me I would remove that bit of gray plastic so that the channel is cleared and looks like the other channels.

Thanks - that plastic chunk definitely isn't meant to be there, and I think it's causing the rotor housing arms to push inboard towards the center of the rotor. That explains the noise when it runs.

Rotor on order. Will let you know how it goes.

Wow -- that is really destroyed lol.  Good luck on the replacement -- I used genuine appliance parts online - just make sure you order the right rotor....

Seriously , its got a massive hole in the bottom

it must have been noisy for a while

you now have a big problem

needs

new rotor

new motor

likely need a heater plate as it will prob be corroded on the sealing surface

since the rps would have gotten wet it would be prudent to replace it as well

the drainhose if not cracked already wont be far away at the bend where it exits the tub or where the hose exits the cabinet down the bottom

price up the parts and its gonna be expensive and waiting for the next thing to go wrong

other option is if you find a scrap unit dd 605 , dd60 version 6 or 7 and you could swap the whole tub out complete , if its a double unit the bottom units dont do as much work so are usually pretty good
