BOSCH dishwasher model number SHE3AFR6CU/22 keeps throwing error code E24 but ALL drains, hoses etc are clear

Dishwasher keeps throwing code E 24, so we take it aprat, clean all drains, hoses, pump entrance, under sink hoses, pea trap, I mean everything.  Somewhere was told to check OHM reading on grey wires to drain pump and black wires to circulation pump.  Grey was supposed to be 89 black 14.  Grey was 130 black 15.

What else could be wrong?

If part 0413 in diagram is missing or not installed properly you will get that error.

Do you hear pump run? Did you check impeller of pump to see if it spins easy or has snappy resistance when you spin it?

I had (have, time will tell) the same problem. Turn on dishwasher, pump runs briefly, then stops and goes to error code 24. After flexing my Google Fu, I removed the trays and the drain cover. The trap/cover were mostly clean but had some hard water crud on the surfaces. Checked the sump-more slime and bits of stuff but not much. Used screwdriver to pop the impeller cover off. Impeller spun freely. Sucked all the water out of the sump with a wet/dry shop vac, poured in vinegar, and scrubbed well. I did pick out a tiny piece of what looks like Saran Wrap. While I was at it I scrubbed around the door gasket and the door hinge - lots of gross black mold came out there - and removed the lower spray arm. It also had white deposit clogging one hole, so I cleaned it as well as I could. It unsnaps from the center post.   Tried lifting the float and could hear a solenoid. After flushing/vacuuming the sump and rinsing many times with clean water, I put the sump cover back on, being careful it was snapped all the way on, and put the well-cleaned filter and cover assembly back on.

Started dishwasher, same error after a couple minutes. The pump would run and I could see clear water going through the drain hose (we have a high loop, not an air gap, so there is only so much to see. I found another site where the poster said they were able to get the dishwasher to advance by opening and closing the door about 7 seconds after the pump started running. Well, I’m no fool. I’ll try anything. Started dishwasher, waited for pump to run, opened and closed door. Same E24. Started dishwasher, waited for pump to run, counted to 7, opened and closed door. Success! Dishwasher continues to wash cycle. I had put a cleaner tab in the dispenser so maybe that will help.

I see this can be an intermittent problem so maybe it’s not fixed. Maybe it’s in the electronics that control the stages. But the “open door” policy is reputed to help, so we will see. I don’t know if I’m allowed to post the link where I found this help, but if I am here it is: https://forum.appliancepartspros.com/posts/t550764-dishwasher-e24-drain-error

Will post again in the future if the problem returns. It would be a real pain to pull the thing out of its hole, so I hope the fix is in. Great site you have here, I’ve saved a lot of money fixing things and have been able to order all needed parts from the pros online.

Change drain pump ! 39 years service technician factory Bosch technician

Ok, problem is fixed! Put a zip tie up the hole next to the impeller to open the check valve, a little dirty water came out but not much, vacuumed it out, then vacuumed out the drain line (high loop). Not much came out if anything. But the dishwasher ran with no problem, no error, no door trick, and the dishes are sparkling clean.  Thanks, friends, for all the help!

Rats. Spoke too soon, had to do the door trick during second pump noise. Reckon I better replace the silly pump. I hate sending things to the landfill…is there a way to test it? The way the dishwasher is installed, there is very little clearance for pulling it out from the cabinets because the flooring went in later. It’s just what happens when you take …14 years to build a house!

Wait, does it matter? My impeller spins freely, should it be resisting?
