Had a power surge (of very short duration) a couple of days ago while the washing machine was running.  When I checked after the surge, it was still running and had 18 minutes to go in a normal wash cycle and seemed to be ok.  About 40 minutes later I check the washer.  Display is sitting at 3 minutes and cycle appears to be stuck at rinse/spin.  Keypad not responding.  Unplug, wait, plug in and put it into event log/diagnostic test mode.

When entering event history/test mode, everything turns on for 5 seconds as expected.  Then display flashes (again expected) but there is never a failure code displayed (only time the 'time remaining' display has anything is when it reads "88" when everything is on for 5 seconds).  Display then sits with only the "rinse/drain & spin" LED on.  Note that on this model there are no separate rinse and spin LEDs, and (technically) it's supposed to display the failure code on the time remaining display (as it has in the past when there were issues).

The tech sheet included with the washer has the status code LED table but seems to treat rinse and spin as if they are two separate LEDs (there are some entries where it indicates rinse but not spin, or spin but not rinse).  There is one entry where only rinse and spin would be on, and that is failure code 24 which indicates a water temperature sensor error.  Just to be sure, I checked both the sensor and the heater (using instructions in the service manual) and they are fine.  (I also checked most of the other components using the methods in the service manual and the only thing that was the least bit suspicious was the door lock solenoid that read a little high, but the door lock works and the reading wasn't too far off.)

When trying to start a wash cycle the door locks but nothing happens; some LEDs will go on but not consistently (meaning one time the 'add a garment' light may flash, other times a different LED may go on, etc).

My presumption based on all this is that the CCU was damaged by the power surge.  None of the component tests have indicated any problems.  I see some clues in the tech sheet.  Under failure code 1 it says "a power glitch may cause this error" and in general the remedy is "replace CCU board".  Many of the other failure codes end with "verify CCU operation by running a diagnostic test or any cycle".  I also found a few threads from long ago that point to the CCU.

I ordered a new CCU, but at ~$300 I figured it would be worth getting a second (or third or fourth) opinion from the appliantology universe.  Didn't want to eat the $300 only to find out that the CCU is fine and it's really something else.  Thoughts?

I should also add...after it got stuck mid-cycle I manually unlocked and drained the washer, etc so that there was nothing in it when I did all the diagnosis.
