Kitchen Aid washer KAWS750LQ2 -- Cycle stops after tub fills

Topic title says it all: tub fills for wash cycle, and then stops. Happens on all settings, but not every time. Lifting lid and letting it slam down (a few times) gets it started onto the wash. If it happened at the beginning of the dry cycle, I'd figure it was the lid switch -- but this is at the start of the wash cycle. Thanks for any help!
