Time to give up on my SAV2655AWW Maytag?

I’m wondering whether my 10 year old SAV2655AWW Maytag, which I’ve already tried fixing, is worth calling a repairman for, or if I should just give up and get a new washer.

The initial problem was the metal core of the idler pully wheel became effectively glued to the pin on the on the lever. The outer plastic part of the wheel ender up being pulled completely off the washer, and the spin belt broke.

I replaced all these things, and tried a small rinse cycle to see if it was working. The good news is the spin worked fine. The bad news is as soon as the agitator started, water started leaking from the bottom center of the baskets. And it wasn’t a small dripping leak either. Thankfully the floor drain is very close. It’s so close that the washer might have been leaking for quite a while without us noticing it.

So now on to fixing the leak. I got the agitator off just fine. I noticed a tiny O-ring agitator shaft seal was broken, but that is too small to explain such a large leak. My bet is one of the seals under it is broken. Thankfully they all come in a kit for $88. Unfortunately, I first have to unscrew the 4 bolts that attach the inner tub. Thanks to dirty build-up and being old, they’re not budging. They’re not budging at all. I finally pulled so hard on one of the bolts that a small cracking sound was heard and now the inner tub, transmission shaft, and all the seals on the transmission shaft freely spin, still completely stuck together. Uh-oh…

Well, I hoped whatever the transmission shaft was attached to below, which I just broke, would be a cheap fix. I still needed to get those bolts off to try and diagnose my now growing list of problems. So, I tried my drill. Not a single bolt budged. At all.

Now I’m left hoping a repairman can get the bolts off and the parts aren’t too expensive, (and are still being made). Or I can just buckle down and get a new washer. Any clue as to what I broke, how much it will cost, or if a repairman would even be able to get those bolts off? Thanks for any suggestions.

This washer has a design flaw is the tub seal , how that it has lasted this long is a surprise to me !  Very few lasted past 5 years. I would not even think about trying to fix it if it was me
